What the King Koil lineup offers

The model most people mean is the King Koil Luxury air mattress. King Koil’s listings in its own Amazon store give these figures for the 20 inch beds:

All three use what King Koil calls a patented high-speed built-in pump, rated 120V / 210W AC, and each listing states a 1-year manufacturer warranty. The same range comes in a full size and in 13 and 16 inch heights; figures for those versions are on their own listings.

A WPTV “Don’t Waste Your Money” consumer report describes the same bed and puts the fill or empty time at under two minutes. King Koil’s current listings give 2 minutes for the queen and longer for the California king, so treat the maker’s figure for your size as the one to plan around.

How King Koil compares on height and pump

At 20 inches, the tallest King Koil sits with the tallest beds from other makers: Intex’s Deluxe Thermalux and Supreme Air-Flow are 20 inches, and SoundAsleep’s Dream Series queen is 19 inches. All of them use a built-in pump.

The difference King Koil points to is inflation speed. It states about 2 minutes for its 20 inch queen; Intex lists about 4.5 minutes for its 20 inch Thermalux queen. A faster fill matters most when you set the bed up and take it down often.

A California king option is less common among air beds. What to check before you buy

• Weight limit. King Koil’s 20 inch queen is listed at 650 lb, a little above the 600 lb Intex gives for its queen beds. Check the figure for the height you want, since the listings give it per bed.
• Warranty. King Koil lists a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Intex’s warranties run from 90 days to 1 year depending on the series. The pump is the bed’s only electrical part, so check what the warranty says about it.

First nights on a new bed

Like any new PVC air bed, expect the first few nights to feel softer by morning. Intex and SoundAsleep both say new vinyl stretches during the first few uses, which feels like a leak but is not one.
